Company Board

Joined S&U in 1975 and was appointed Managing Director in 1999 and became Chairman in 2008. Between 1987 and 1997 served as a Member of Parliament and was a member of the Government. Serves on the Executive of the Consumer Credit Association and chairs its Public Relations Committee and is a director of a number of companies and charities including chairing the trustees of the National Institute for Conductive Education.

Joined S&U plc after graduating from London Business School in 1976. He is responsible for directing our credit businesses and for property matters. He was appointed Deputy Chairman in 2008.

Guy joined the group in 1999 as Managing Director of Advantage Finance and has overseen an excellent performance in their first decade. Guy has a strong track record in the finance and motor sectors and since his appointment brings these skills to the Board of S&U plc.

Mike joined S&U in 1997 and started out as an agent in the then Newton Abbot branch covering Torbay, after 9 months taking over as branch manager of the same branch. He then moved through different ranks of management and in September 2009 assumed overall control as Managing Director of our group home collected credit operations.

A Chartered accountant with over 10 years business experience in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, food and travel sectors prior to his appointment as Finance Director of Advantage Finance in 1999. Following a successful start up period for Advantage he was appointed as Group Finance Director with effect from 1 March 2004.

Group Management

This section primarily provided group area managers with a weekly update on branch and company progress. We also deal with the sale and purchase of HP items and the transfer of client accounts from branch to branch.

My job is to develop and maintain a strong and stable computer network. This includes the upgrading from old MS DOS systems to new servers running a thin client system. The maintenance of our firewalls and anti-virus are also a high priority in my job.

The department is responsible for the day to day management of the Fleet, Commercial Insurance, Stationery & Marketing, Premises & Office Management, Health & Safety policies, General expenditure controls and customer compliance for the group.

The HR Department is responsible for delivering a professional service to the business, and its employees, across a variety of areas including: Resourcing; Training and Development; Employee Relations; Employment Law; and Reward. The dedicated team are always on hand to provide support to Managers throughout the Group; we aim to assist in recruiting, retaining and developing our staff to achieve their full potential within the business.

I am responsible for the promotion, development and expansion of the group's northwest, northeast and Scotland subsidiary. I aim to provide dynamic leadership, strategic direction and clear focus, in order that turnover be increased and profits maximized.

Responsible for sales management, business development, external marketing, public relations, training support, compliance, product & brand strategy, planning and implementation.
